Fontenelle Forest Nature Center
and
Wetlands Learning Center

The Wetlands Learning Center is nestled into the river bottom woods near the Great Marsh on the Missouri River floodplain, in Bellevue, NE. Each year, thousands of students explore the wetlands. To accommodate the students and other visitors, a 1,800-foot long boardwalk was installed to provide universal access to the marsh and to protect the soil from the pounding of thousands of feet.

A two-story wildlife viewing blind and observation deck at the marsh provides visitors with a view of the Great Marsh and its inhabitants. A new educational pond provides easy access for teaching and shifted the students away from the older ponds, allowing them to regenerate.
