The Big Muddy Workshop, Inc. is a landscape architecture and 
interpretive planning firm serving select clients in the Missouri River region. 
Our name celebrates the Missouri River, which was and still is a primary influ-
ence on the ecology, culture and commerce of our region. Our name also ex-
presses our hands-on approach during the design process and the construction 
administration phase. Founded in July of 1990 in response to the ground swell 
of public support for the protection of our remaining significant natural areas, 
restoration of disturbed lands, and enlightened land development methods, 
the Workshop provides clients with the technical, analytical and creative skills 
necessary to accomplish these goals. The Big Muddy Workshop, Inc. creates 
sustainable designs that conserve natural landscapes, preserve cultural landscapes, 
and enhance the built environment within our region.
 
Our landscape architectural projects include new & historic city and regional parks, 
nature centers, arboreta, trail systems, ecological restoration sites and campuses. 
We also plan and design wayfinding systems and interpretive exhibits.
